Stem Cell Utilization and Skin Conditions

Stem cell utilization in dermatology has emerged as a promising walk for addressing various skin conditions, offering innovative therapeutic approaches and potential advancements in regenerative medicine. Stem cells possess unique goods that make them valuable in treating skin-related issues, including wound healing, aging-related concerns, and certain dermatological disorders. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells with the volume to self-renew and differentiate into specialized cell types. In dermatology, their regenerative capabilities have garnered attention for their role in repairing damaged skin, stimulating tissue regeneration, and modulating the immune response, thereby offering potential treatments for various skin conditions. Wound healing is one area where stem cell therapy has shown substantial promise. Chronic wounds, such as diabetic ulcers or severe burns, pose significant challenges in conventional treatments. Stem cells, particularly mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), ...

Eco Rating, the most sustainable mobile labeling

Eco Rating is an environmental initiative launched by the five major mobile operators in Europe, with which it is intended to offer a global score of the degree of sustainability of the devices they sell.

Through a new labeling system, called Eco Rating, a rating of the sustainability of smartphones is established based on 5 parameters:

1.Durability , how long does the device last? Provides information on the resistance of the mobile, the battery life and the warranty period of the phone and its components.

2.Repairability , what are the chances of it being repaired? Evaluate the ease of repair of the smartphone taking into account its design and the possibilities of increasing its useful life by being repaired, reused or updated.

3.Recyclability , what recycling options do you offer? It takes into account the ease offered by the product to be disassembled and to be able to separate its components, in order for them to be recycled properly.

4.Climate efficiency , do you make efficient use of energy? Evaluates the emission of GHG (Greenhouse Gases) during the entire life cycle of the mobile.

5.Efficiency in the use of natural resources . Assesses the impact of the raw materials used to manufacture the device, in relation to the depletion of natural resources.

This new sustainability label for mobiles will be available from this month of June in all European stores of the following operators: Telefónica, Vodafone, Telia Company, Orange and Deutsche Telekom. Specifically, it will be present in 24 of the 27 countries that make up the European Union: Albania, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro , Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden and Turkey.

The Eco Rating labeling is initially launched with the valuation of the phones of the following manufacturers and trademarks:

•Bullitt Group - For your Cat and Motorola brand phones,

•Doro,

•HMD Global: para Nokia Phones,

•Huawei,

•MobiWire,

•Motorola / Lenovo,

•OnePlus,

•OPPO,

•Samsung Electronics,

•TCL,

•Alcatel,

•Xiaomi and

•ZTE.

What is the purpose of Eco Rating

The intention of the Eco Rating initiative is to offer consumers a tool that allows them to make the decision to purchase one mobile or another, based on the sustainability of the product.

The fight against climate change and the desire to achieve a more sustainable market for technological products has become a priority for the EU, as we saw in the article on the “ right to repair ”.

The waste generated by electrical and electronic equipment, known as WEEE waste , has increased by 21% in the last 5 years, reaching the figure of 53.6 million tons in 2019. Given this reality, the commitments acquired by the member countries of the EU in the European Green Deal and the sustainable development goals set by the 2030 Agenda , have become the reference framework for the birth of initiatives that seek to promote sustainability and the circular economy.

In this context, the Eco Rating initiative offers consumers transparent and objective information on the environmental efficiency of a mobile phone throughout the product's life cycle. With a score that can range from 1 to 100, the devices will offer better environmental performance the closer the different measurement criteria get to the number 100.
