MIUI 12.5 Features
Many are the users who requested a review of some of the
functionalities of MIUI 12, the previous version of Xiaomi's operating system.
For this reason, the company itself has not been slow to launch this new
version, MIUI 12.5, approximately 6 months after the previous one. Among the
new features are:
1. Performance
MIUI 12.5 stands out mainly for system optimizations . The
fluidity of transitions , especially in full-screen gestures, is achieved
thanks to their execution in a “dedicated thread” on the CPU. In this way,
transitions are executed independently of other processes that, in previous
versions such as MIUI 12, interfered with their rendering, sometimes causing a
slower response.
2. Uninstallable system apps
Another of the most prominent features of MIUI 12.5 is the
increase in uninstall system applications . In this way there are "Core
apps" such as calls, messaging, clock, camera or gallery, among others,
that cannot be uninstalled and new ones that can be deleted from the system for
the first time, such as the weather app, the notes, the compass, and so on.
3. Energy saving
According to Xiaomi, MIUI 12.5 achieves up to 15% energy
savings compared to the MIUI 11 version. Thanks to this, it is possible to
enjoy the device with total autonomy for a longer time.
4. Create mind maps in MIUI 12.5
The " Notes " app presents a novelty in its new
version allowing the user to create mind maps and including 4 new drawing
tools: creation of shapes, drawing of lines, freehand drawings ...
Shortcuts have also been optimized to jot down new ideas in
the shortest possible time. The new notes application allows you to structure
and organize the notes on the phone by creating or moving them as the user
wants.
How to update the phone to MIUI 12.5?
In general, updates to the operating systems of each brand
arrive automatically on the device as long as it is compatible. This is known
as automatic OTA updates (which stands for over-the-air or “over-the-air
updates”).
In the case of MIUI 12.5, a first phase of update has
already been carried out done the months of May and June and, during the next
month of July, it will continue to be extended to the different models of the
brand.
If your model is among the devices that are already
compatible with the update and you have not received the system notification to
update it, you can do the following :
1.Go to "Settings" on the phone.
2.Click on "About phone."
3.Click on the box where the MIUI version you have installed
appears.
4.Select "Update Settings" from the pop-up menu.
5.Activate the "Receive updates sooner" option.
In the happening that you do not receive notification of the
update, you can also perform a manual installation . To do this, follow the
following steps:
1.Visit the official MIUI page from your mobile by clicking
on the following link: download MIUI
2.Select your model and download the updated official
software. Remember to always choose the European version as it is the one that
complies with the Union regulations.
3.Once downloaded go to "Settings"> "About
phone" and make several clicks on the MIUI icon currently installed until
the additional functions are activated.
4.Inside the menu (3 points) click on "Select update
package" and select the file that you had downloaded from the official
Xiaomi website.
